Mainz competes for the title

Preparations for the city of Mainz's application for the well-known "City of Science" award from the Donors' Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany are going full speed ahead. Various work groups from the city administration, university, universities of applied sciences, Max Planck institutes, the university's medical center, museums, and numerous institutions in the field of culture and media have developed the title of the application: 

"Mainz - Passionately Scientific.

A City Landscape Full of Creativity."

More than 100 joint projects are being prepared under this title for the "Year of Science 2011" by the network between the city and the MAINZ RESEARCH ALLIANCE.

A high-caliber jury selected three candidates from a larger number of competitors in November. The decision for the City of Science will be made in March 2010. The Mainz committees already indicated strong support for the application in February. All scientific institutions are taking part in the application through the MAINZ RESEARCH ALLIANCE.
